Simon Hamon
Simon Hamon was born on Guernsey and has always been interested in local history – a passion he acquired from his grandfather, Arthur Hamon, the first chairman of the Ancient Monuments Committee. Simon is a published author and occupation historian, having written over one hundred and fifty articles in local and international publications. He is the author of five books: Voices from the Past – Channel Islands Invaded, Images of Occupation Volume 1, Storming Hitler’s British Fortress and Life Lives Beyond the Grave (the story of the German Military Cemetery at Fort George) – as well as his previous collaboration with Marco Tersigni on Occupied Guernsey Past & Present in 2023.
He has led walks and given a number of lectures on occupation-related subjects both in the Channel Islands and England. Simon has served on the committee of the Channel Islands Occupation Society, the Guernsey Military Vehicle Group and the Allied Aircrew Memorial.
