Kelly Priaulx

Kelly Priaulx was born and bred on Guernsey, and her love for the island weaves its way through her historical fiction writing. Moved by the fact that we are passing through the last generation who will remember the island’s occupation, Kelly drew inspiration from real wartime accounts and family stories for her debut novel, Operation Green Arrow.

The tale of endurance, love and the fierce fight to reclaim freedom follows the fictional story of Margot as she grows up on the island to the backdrop of war. Fascinated, intrigued and saddened - all in equal measure - by the island's history, she is hard at work on her second novel, which explores Guernsey’s deep-rooted folklore and witch hunts of the 17th century. Whilst seeing her words in print is her lifelong ambition, Kelly is a busy mum to three young children and writing often has to take a back seat. She loves Guernsey, and if you can’t find her, she is either exploring unspoilt trackways, soaking up local culture, experimenting in the kitchen where she loves to cook (and eat) or - most likely - playing taxi to her children!
