Jill Chubb

Jill Chubb is Chair of the Guernsey Deportees Association. She was one week into her third year when along with her mum and dad and elder brother the family were deported from Guernsey to camps in Germany. Despite her young age Jill has vivid memories of the journey that they made by boat and cattle trucks into Germany.

After three appalling years, she and the deportees were liberated from Biberach by the free French Army and later the Americans. The deportees remember the Liberation of the camp on the 23rd April each year, with a ceremony at a memorial plaque at the White Rock.
