Guernsey Deportees - A Little-Known Story of Wartime Resilience

at Guille-Allès Library
Saturday 26 April from 17:00 to 18:00

In 1942, in retaliation against the Allied forces, Hitler ordered the deportation of more than a thousand islanders from Guernsey - tearing families apart and setting them on a path to Biberach internment camp.

Jill Chubb was among those sent on the harrowing journey more than 80 years ago. In a special new podcast series, she shares her experiences with her grandson, former BBC Guernsey presenter Ollie Guillou.

In this talk, you will learn about this little-known piece of history that still has an impact on islanders today - and why Ollie and Jill felt it was crucial to create this piece of oral history.
