My Ideal Place - Larkin, Love and the Channel Islands

A talk featuring Philip Larkin’s holiday experiences on the islands of Jersey, Guernsey, and Sark. Drawing upon previously overlooked archive material, it will examine why islands such as these meant so much to him and what this reveals about his writing and his relationships with the two most important women in his life. The talk will form part of a national programme of events marking the centenary of Larkin’s birth.
