Anthony McGowan

Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know?

Anthony Mc Gowan’s novels often centre on teenagers with serious problems. In Henry Tumour, Hector Brunty has a brain tumour that tries to take over his life, and Hello Darkness features a hero who slips into a world in which reality and delusion mingle, when he forgets to take his medication. In Brock and Pike, Nicky has to look after his older brother, Kenny, who has learning difficulties. These are important issues: life, death, mental health, but Mc Gowan discusses them with wild and dirty humour, as well as insight.
