Meet the Team

Welcome to the Guernsey Literary Festival blog! We’re hoping to bring you some interesting stuff as September approaches, as well as blogging during the Festival itself. Here we are, the Blog Team:

Ric Carter writes in his spare time, specialising in short stories. He enjoyed the Literary Festival so much last year that he wanted to get involved this time around and is particularly looking forward to Chuma Nwokolo's flash fiction workshop for a chance to improve his own work and to discuss the craft of storywriting.

Sophie Duncan is in Year 12 at Grammar, where she’s studying English, History and R.S. She’s been writing since she was knee-high to a grasshopper and has cupboards full of notebooks filled with stories. Sophie loves reggae and punk so will definitely be at the Fermain Tavern dancing away to Linton Kwesi Johnson, Attila the Stockbroker and Ruts DC.

Caroline Mauger, the Mummy of the group (and Sophie’s actual mum), has been writing all sorts of things for the Festival, as well as producing the monthly Book Corner for Gallery magazine. She also writes for Blue Skies and Livinglife magazines and is a devoted bookworm. Particularly excited about Marina Lewycka’s workshop and absolutely loved Rosa Rankin-Gee’s The Last Kings of Sark.

Oli Thompson is in Year 12 at Elizabeth College. He writes a blog about films and novels and does a lot of creative writing – his latest project is a feature-length screenplay. Oli’s ambition is to study at the New York Film Academy and become a screenplay writer and director. He can’t wait to hear Michael Morpurgo speak as War Horse has enjoyed a hugely successful transition onto stage and screen.
