Guernsey Literary Festival

1 to 6 May 2019

Message from the Terry Waite CBE, Honorary Chairman

The tremendous success of the book and film ‘The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society’ has certainly put the Island of Guernsey right on the international literary map. What may not be so well known is that the Island has a long literary history as it saw the birth of an International Classic piece of writing:’ Les Miserables’ written by Victor Hugo when he was exiled in this delightful Channel Island. It is therefore not surprising that each year Guernsey hosts an International Literary Festival which attracts writers from far afield.

The last festival in May 2018 increased attendance by 34% on the previous year and next year is all set to be another record year. If you would like to be more closely associated with the Festival why not become a friend and receive special benefits which include priority bookings? Given the success of the film next year is bound to see an increase in attendance so now is the time to join in support an event which further helps Guernsey to be the outstanding and interesting location that it undoubtedly is. To join the friends click here. I look forward to welcoming many new friends at next year’s event.
