Open mic for local writers

The Guille Allès Library and the Guernsey Literary Festival are joining forces to host a second creative writing 'Open Mic Night' for prose writers on Wednesday 30 January at 7 pm at the library.

This follows the successful first event held in November. Writers will be able to read their own work out in front of a friendly, like-minded audience - a short story, an extract from a novel, or whatever prose work might be in progress.

Writers will also be asked to give a very short introduction to themselves and their work. Writing can be a lonely business and this event will give local writers the chance to meet and draw inspiration from each other.

Audience places are free but must be booked at www.library.gg/events/open-mic-night.Any writer who would like a slot at the microphone should go to the same website, which will direct them to the submission form where they will be able to submit the piece they'd like to read (maximum length 1500 words, and please note this event is for prose, not poetry).
