Murder at Castle Cornet

At 7pm on Friday 14th September we’re proud to be presenting Death at Downturn Abbey, a Murder Mystery evening. Here’s what you need to know about this fabulous, twenties-inspired event.

The Murder Maestros are a group of professional actors and writers.

Scriptwriter and actor James Harper is the scriptwriter and founder of the group.

Mel Giedroyc is well known as a comedienne and TV presenter.

Rob Thrush has over 25 years’ experience and now runs the production company TNT with a film/TV studio in Hampshire.

Jo-Jo Entwistle has worked worldwide as an actor and entertainer for over 20 years.

Jacqui Szlachetko has a marketing background so runs the communications side. She also has over 16 years’ experience in writing, directing and acting in community projects in West London.

The Murder Mystery format allows close contact with the audience and is universally popular in Britain – who doesn’t love watching Poirot or Midsomer Murders on a Sunday evening?

You can expect to see some larger-than-life country house characters and a murder fairly early on in the evening. Cross-examinations by the quick-witted detective will reveal devious secrets in the family. The style is slightly-saucy humour rather than horror  - so it's a fun, light-hearted evening.

Jacqui grew up in Guernsey and attended The Ladies' College and is looking forward to showing the others the beauty of the island. ‘We are all thrilled to be performing at Castle Cornet as the atmosphere will be fantastic!’ says Jacqui. ‘We’re also very excited that we may get the chance to meet some of the wonderful writers on the bill - it's a great line-up and we are honoured to be part of it.’

1920s dress is encouraged and there will be prizes! (suitable for over-18s)
