Jon Snow cancels his event for health reasons

Jon Snow, a major speaker at this year’s Guernsey Literary Festival, has had to cancel his event for health reasons.

Veteran broadcaster Jon was due to have spoken about his recently published book “The State of Us: The Good News and the Bad News about our Society” as part of this year’s Festival, which runs from 2 to 14 May.

Festival Director Claire Allen said, ’We are so disappointed that Jon isn’t able to come –ticket sales had already shown how popular his talk would have been – but we fully understand and have sent him our very best wishes.’

Tickets will be refunded to purchasers. The sponsors of the event, Walter Property, have kindly agreed to support Dan Walker talking about his book “Standing on the Shoulders – Incredible Heroes and How They Inspire Us”, at St James on Saturday 13 May at 7.30 pm.

This year’s Festival, which runs from 2-14 May, will have more than 65 events, including 17 in schools, featuring international writers and speakers covering a wide range of fascinating subjects. Full details are available on the Festival website –
